Services Provided

The Public Health Division focuses on primary disease prevention and health promotion through education and community outreach, with the goal of protecting the health of the entire community.

  • Disease Prevention and Control: prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases, such as COVID-19, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), through monitoring, investigation and response
  • Immunizations: all ages across the lifespan
  • Environmental Health: monitor and respond to environmental hazards like lead poisoning and air pollution
  • Maternal and Child Health: home visits for at-risk or high-risk prenatal and postpartum women
  • Elder Health: through the Growing Older Staying Strong Project, provide elders with opportunities to come together to increase their physical activity in a safe and supportive environment
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: prepare for and respond to natural disasters, outbreaks of disease, and other emergencies that may affect the health of the community
  • Health education and promotion: events and campaigns to promote healthy behaviors such as health fairs, tobacco prevention education for schools, healthy eating initiatives, and physical activity programs
