PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) PANDEMIC, ALL TRIBAL HEALTH FITNESS CENTERS AND COMMUNITY CENTERS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Tribal Health fitness centers are resources for Tribal Health recipients to achieve increased physical health. All eligible recipients may use the fitness centers free of charge. Non-Tribal Health recipients may access the facilities by paying a monthly fee for services.
Tribal Health fitness centers deliver convenient access to equipment, classes, and health information, so Tribal Health recipients can participate year-round in aerobic and strength training activities.
New Hours of Operation
Certified personal trainers operate Tribal Health fitness centers in Elmo and St. Ignatius, providing instruction on fitness equipment and activities to improve the health and wellness of the community. Tribal Health personal fitness trainers can provide equipment demonstrations, fitness programs and group fitness programs, as well as InBody composition analysis methods to measure body fat and muscle mass.
Certified personal trainers can help recipients reach fitness goals by assisting with a custom workout program. Personal trainers will help guide recipients through their workout and challenge each individual to gain increased fitness, while providing support to help each recipient maximize the benefits of various regimens and equipment.
Variety of Equipment
Tribal Health fitness centers offer a wide variety of amenities and equipment, including weight machines, free weights, and cardio machines such as stair climbers, ellipticals, and treadmills. In addition, recipients have access to:
- Gymnasiums (in St. Ignatius and Arlee only)
- Group fitness classes (including the Golden Moccasins exercise program)
- Exercise videos
- Circuit training
- Walking groups
- Outdoor walking track located at our Elmo and Arlee Fitness Centers, and near the Tribal Health Center in St. Ignatius
- Separate men’s and women’s saunas
Regulations and Safety Standards
Tribal Health fitness centers enforce policies to ensure recipients’ safety and health. Clothing specifically designed for physical activity is recommended for safety and comfort. Staff are required to disinfect exercise equipment regularly, and facilities are sanitized to prevent the spread of germs. Staff monitor workout areas to be sure recipients are using machines properly and safely.
